Castaic High School appears to be back on track to open on time, as Southern California Gas officials have received the necessary permits to begin laying down gas pipes.
Officials with SoCalGas announced Monday that they received the necessary permits to begin work installing gas pipes at the 198-acre Castaic High School site.
“SoCalGas submitted all required documents to L.A. County Public Works, and that agency has assured the developer it will issue the permit today, Monday, June 17,” said Marisol Espinoza, spokesperson for SoCalGas. “The developer has shared that they will work with SoCalGas to provide the trench, the houseline release, and other typical developer responsibilities.”
The gas pipes should be completed by August 1, almost two weeks before Castaic High is scheduled to open, according to Espinoza.
Los Angeles County Board Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents the Fifth District, which includes Santa Clarita and Castaic, worked with County officials to ensure that the permits were issued quickly.
